Superbill
A Superbill is a detailed, itemized document used by healthcare providers to record the services and treatments they have provided to a patient. It includes essential information such as the patient’s name, date of service, diagnosis codes (ICD-10), procedure codes (CPT or HCPCS), and the provider’s information. The superbill also lists the charges for each service or procedure performed during the patient’s visit.
Patients use superbills to submit claims to their insurance companies for reimbursement. While the healthcare provider generates the superbill, it is the patient’s responsibility to send it to their insurer if the provider does not handle insurance billing directly. A well-prepared superbill ensures accurate and efficient reimbursement by providing all necessary details for the insurance claim process.
